We met on a cold summer's afternoon in Leeds to discuss recording Paul's return to the ring.
We got the whys out of the way first. Paul explained how watching the plight of the "Elephant Man" on a channel four documentary shocked him into helping raise money for the guy's next operation. He told us how he met Doctor Lee, the man's physician, in Doncaster. From there a chance contact with the boxing promoter determined how he would make the difference with a sponsored boxing bout.
As the story fell into place, Paul's face betrayed the passion he feels for his mission. The more we heard, the more excited we got about documenting this journey. With any luck we'll be able to capture the emotion, the characters and, above all, the spectacle of this tale and do it justice on video. With James's director, Andy, meeting us on Monday we adjourned till then.
